Maureen K. Rulison of Medicaid & Financial Planning Services was my guest on The Caregiver Hour on June 28th.  She shared valuable information regarding the financial aspects of caregiving.  I received this wonderful story from one of Maureen’s clients and wanted to share it with you.  It’s comforting to know there are wonderful resources out there to help when we need more information.

“When I could no longer provide the level of care my Father required at my home, I sought the advice of his physician and his attorney as to what to do next. Both his Physician and Attorney advised us that a Nursing Home was eminent. His Attorney referred us to Medicaid & Financial Planning Services, Maureen K. Rulison, to receive assistance with protecting my Father’s assets and obtaining Medicaid eligibility to assist with the costs of Long Term Care. There was so much to learn about Medicaid, Medicare, and his insurance that it seemed overwhelming. Not to mention how we were going to be able to pay the $7,000 + a month bill to continue his care once Medicare and his insurance stopped paying. Maureen Rulison and the staff at Medicaid & Financial Planning Services helped me organize all of my Dad’s assets and required documentation required for eligibility for Medicaid. We legally protected his assets and then the company filed for Medicaid for him. They were the contact person with Department of Children and Families, throughout the process and so we did not have to think about it again! They will now continue to be with me over the next year and will handle the Department of Children and Families complete the first year’s review, as part of their “After Care Program.” The company took a lot of pressure away from us, allowed my Father to live out his life with dignity and outstanding medical care. They are also allowing our family to be able to focus on our Father rather than the money.  I would happily refer Medicaid & Financial Planning Services.”
